THE ANCHOR RANGE
The part that is driven into the ground and creates the load. New Generation Anchors ![]() As a result of years of experience and a comprehensive understanding of how the anchors behave in a variety of soil conditions, Platipus have been able to further enhance the products we can make available. The latest range of Stealth and Bat anchors incorporate some major improvements resulting in reduced driving times, shorter loadlock distances and increased potential holding capacities. Other design improvements include: Angled Winglets, Edge Beads, Delta Drive Point and Bell Shape features. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ANCHORS The Stealth Anchor The ‘Stealth Anchor’ is available in five sizes, covering a wide range of lightweight anchoring requirements. It can achieve a load of up to 70kN depending on prevailing soil conditions. Stealth Anchors are easy to install using simple hand or power tools and are extremely practical when working in restricted spaces. ![]() The Bat Anchor The ‘Bat Anchor’, available in four sizes, has been specifically designed to achieve higher loads (up to 250kN depending on soil conditions) and also to enhance anchoring in poor soil conditions. Designed to accept the T-Loc lower termination, a significant advantage of this feature is the flexibility it gives to on-site system assembly. The range generally requires more powerful equipment for installation. ![]() ANCHORS AND MATERIALS
(The alpha codes provided here also appear in tables provided below)A = Aluminium Alloy Aluminium is an ideal material combining corrosion resistance and considerable strength for use in most soil conditions. Aluminium is generally associated with short-term applications. H = Hard Anodising When aluminium is exposed to the atmosphere it naturally oxidizes, providing a very thin protective coating. By utilizing an electro-chemical process, known as anodising, a much thicker protective coating, both harder and more corrosion resistant, can be produced. Hard anodising is an extension of normal anodising using special techniques to provide an even thicker anodic coating with greater abrasion and corrosion resistance. C = Cast Spheroidal Graphite Iron Spheroidal graphite iron is a highly ductile form of cast iron suitable for hot dip galvanizing. The cast iron and zinc coating offer a very durable solution to medium term corrosion resistance. F = Fusion Bonded Fusion bonded epoxy coatings are designed for corrosion protection in difficult environments. The bonding process provides excellent adhesion and thickness as well as a uniform coating. It produces a tough abrasion resistant coating with excellent chemical resistance to corrosive soils and salt-water environments. B = Aluminium Bronze Aluminium bronze is used where there is a requirement for long-term applications and/or highly corrosive environments. In some cases aluminium bronze is used in short term applications where the ground is extremely hard and high power installation equipment is required. ![]() ![]() |
