INSTALLATION OF PLATIPUS ANCHORING SYSTEMS
![]() The latest range of Platipus earth anchoring systems is the result of years of experience and Research and Development into the behavioural characteristics of mechanical earth anchors in varying soil conditions. This has resulted in a range of products that outperforms all previous Platipus, and similar, products. Our latest range of ‘Stealth’ and ‘Bat’ anchors incorporate some major key improvements resulting in reduced driving times, shorter loadlock distances and increased potential holding capacities. Other design improvements that aid in installation include: Angled Winglets, Edge Beads, Delta Drive Point and Bell Shape features. INSTALLATION
The anchor system can be installed using a variety of light, medium or heavy installation equipment. As the requirement
for anchor size and placement depth increases it is essential to utilize larger installation equipment. There are three main stages of installation that are common to all types of anchor system: Stage 1 Driving The Anchor - Drive the anchor into the ground to the required installation depth. Stage 2 Removing The Rods - Remove the drive rod from the body of the anchor in the ground, either by hand or using rod-removing equipment. Stage 3 Loadlocking - Loadlock the anchor into its full working position and proof load, by applying a load to the tendon. Prior to commencement of work on anchor installation, any buried services on site, such as gas, electricity and water
should be identified. Action can then be taken to avoid those services, e.g., by altering the positioning of anchors,
their angle of installation or their depth of installation. |
